Next up was the peel and eat shrimp. All you do is boil and serve. They were extremely tough, as if they had been recooked repeatedly at the start of the day and frozen at night. They tasted ancient.
As I sit outside I see that they are closed mondays. A definitive precursor to the restaurants death.
I ordered the platter consisting of crab cakes, fried crawfish tails, peel and eat shrimp, potato salad, and sauteed mushrooms.
This meal for two cost me 50 dollars. A price i was very surprised with given the environment and poor quality of the food.
I travel for work and it put me in Odessa, TX. I Googled a bar and grille and it took me here. My first experience I met fellow workers in the field. Had ice cold beers and the best grilled food you can imagine. I met with the owner and told her how thankful I was of this place. 1 on the house because of it. Thank you Fletcher for the hospitality. Now I'll be a regular. Plus it's a huge family friendly and party of 30 restaurant. You come to Odessa, this is your spot!! Thank you again
To start off, the server didn't realize we were seated in her section for a while. This resulted in getting our order in late. Beyond that the service was fine.
I also, eagerly await the next restaurant that replaces them after their inevitable death.
Delicious food, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The service was exceptional. You have to try this place!!!
The crab cakes were inedible and dry. Lacking any type of flavor. These overcooked, very obviously frozen, and bland monstrosities were pushed to the side of my plate never to be eaten.
The crawfish tails were the most enjoyable part of the meal. No doubt frozen and bland, but at least it was hidden in the fact that they were deep fried in batter.
The mushrooms and potato salad can share the same review, as they suffer the same problems. Bland, tasteless, and unenjoyable. Does the chef here know what seasoning is?
Stopped in at Big Daddy's Grill in Odessa at the suggestion of a colleague; I was in town on business from Philadelphia, PA but my colleague was local so I let the colleague pick the spot for lunch. My only 'guidelines' were as follows: no chains, a place with a good, local vibe, and not overly fancy. Big Daddy's fit the bill perfectly! The place is friendly as soon as you walk in the door; I was greeted & seated with a smile and tended to by a sweet and spunky server who made this northeast city boy feel right at home in the oil patch. Good variety on the menu but I had just had to have that featured catfish for lunch. Glad I did! The plate was a generous helping and as good as any Memphis catfish I'd had before and the slaw... Mmmmm; just the way I like it: cool & creamy with just the right amount of texture & crunch and very mildly seasoned - a perfect side! BDG&B is plain enough from the outside looking in, but tip-top food, service & pricing await once inside this casual vibe gem of an eatery. I'll make a point to get back as soon as I can.
In my experience service has always been great, food is always been great. Orders are as you ask for them.
I will never return and they do not deserve the single star they got.
